Welcome to October’s Habitat Connection!
Fall is here, construction is moving forward, and there are plenty of ways to get involved with Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho. This month, we’re celebrating a dedicated volunteer, sharing upcoming community events, and highlighting opportunities to help us build more than houses. Let’s get connected!
Building C is Taking Shape!
Progress continues at Duffield Place! The siding on Building C is nearly complete, and we’re excited to see this project coming together. We’re looking forward to our anticipated completion date at the end of 2026. Every step brings us closer to welcoming these homes into the community! Stay tuned for more updates as construction continues.
Volunteer Spotlight: Celebrating Peggy Appleman
Some people volunteer their time. Others leave a lasting mark on an organization. Peggy Appleman has done both!
Peggy recently retired from the Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho Board of Directors after dedicating six years of service to our mission. Recruited by friends, Peggy quickly became an integral part of Habitat’s leadership and a valued member of our team. After retiring from the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, Peggy continues to embody the compassion, thoughtfulness, and deep love for community that make her such a special part of Habitat.
We adore Peggy and are incredibly grateful for her dedication to advancing our mission of hope, stability, and self-reliance. Her commitment has made a difference, and we’re proud to celebrate the time and heart she has given to Habitat.
Thank you, Peggy, for six wonderful years of leadership and for helping strengthen our Habitat community!
Save The Dates
Mark your calendars! We have some exciting opportunities to connect with our community and support Habitat.
October 30 | Idaho National Guard Fall Festival: Open to all military, retiree and veteran families. Stop by our Habitat booth and say hello! We’re excited to connect with the community at this fall event.
November 5 | Golden Years Resource Fair: We’ll be there sharing information about Habitat and the work we do to help build stronger communities.
February 13, 2027 | 18th Annual Sweethearts Ball: Save the date for one of our favorite events of the year! Planning is underway for our 18th Annual Sweethearts Ball, and we can’t wait to share more details with you.
Volunteer Opportunities
Construction Volunteers: Help us keeping Building C moving forward at Duffield Place. Our construction site is open to volunteers 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Whether you’re helping with cleanup or lending a hand with other tasks, your time and effort makes a difference. Come ready to work, learn something new, and see Habitat homebuilding in action!
Help Keep Our Admin Office Looking Its Best: We’re looking for someone willing to help clean our administrative office on a recurring basis. We can be flexible with the schedule! We’ll provide all the cleaning supplies. If you enjoy keeping things tidy and organized, this is a simple but meaningful way to support Habitat behind the scenes.
Join the Sweethearts Ball Committee: Our committee meetings are underway, but there’s still room for more helping hands and fresh ideas! Meetings are held every Monday from 5:00–6:00 PM through November 16 at the Habitat Admin Office. On the 16th we’ll plan the remainder of the meetings. Whether you love planning events, brainstorming creative ideas, helping with engagement, or simply pitching in wherever needed, we’d love to have you join us!
